A Day in the Life of a Candid Wedding Photographer

Hello everyone! Welcome to my corner of the internet. I'm thrilled to have the chance to share a bit more about myself, besides the fact that I'm a photographer. I hope this will give you a deeper understanding of who I am when I'm not looking through the viewfinder.I was born and raised in Sioux Falls, a place that I still hold dear to my heart and where I now live with my wife and our beautiful daughter. It's here, in the heart of the Midwest, where I first developed a passion for photography. It all started back in my college days. I was surrounded by friends who were into photography. They all owned cameras, and I was fascinated by the magic they could create with just their equipment and their imaginations. Inspired by them, I decided to give photography a shot, and I've been hooked ever since.But there's more to me than just being a photographer. One of my biggest passions outside of photography is video gaming. I've always been a gamer, ever since I was a kid. There's something about the combination of storytelling, art, and interactivity that I find incredibly captivating. In fact, I'm currently trying my hand at creating my own video game. It's a challenging endeavor, but it's also a lot of fun and incredibly rewarding.So, there you have it, a brief introduction of me, the person behind the camera. I started writing this speech on Friday, October 11, 2024. Arya was just 43 days old at that point. I had turned on some music while holding her in my arms, and started to dance around Grandma and Grandpa Somers' house. I rested my cheek against her head and looked at the little dinosaurs covering her gray onesie. I knew then that I wasn't ready for her wedding day, when we would dance again. All I could do was enjoy the song with her. Funny enough, the name of the song was "Gratitude" which was very fitting for how I felt.

EmBe has always been somewhere on my radar in terms of Childcare Programs that I would like to be a part of. When I found that they were hiring for their CLC program, I wasted no time in getting my application submitted. I then found out they had a Site Coordinator position available as well, and was very excited when I was told I got the job.

I was born and raised here in Sioux Falls, and graduated high school from O'Gorman. I went on to study Film Production at Minnesota State University Moorhead. While I lived in Moorhead, I met my now wife, Jessica. Together we have a 5 month old daughter, Arya. I've worked in childcare in different capacities since the summer of 2018. I've worked at summer camps, middle school, elementary schools, and I've enjoyed every job more than the last. When I'm not at EmBe, I am either hanging out with my wife and daughter or working as a professional photographer.

To create a resource for aspiring artists to learn from, to cultivate a community of individuals who have a passion for helping others, and to promote local artists in a way that helps them chase their goals.
